July 14, 2025 at 10:38 am #718360Passed. This was my final exam and it took a few attempts. So pleased to finally have everything done and dusted.
Application for membership sent in this morning too!Well done to all who passed. If you weren’t lucky this time then don’t give up – it’s a tough paper, but you are tougher! Keep up with question practice and the pass will come.
July 14, 2025 at 11:02 am #718362Passed 1st attempt, thank you John moffat.
You are the best!!
July 14, 2025 at 11:27 am #718363Passed on first attempt 51%. It was close!! Thank you OpenTution
July 14, 2025 at 1:31 pm #718377Passed with 61% at the first attempt. Probably the trickiest paper I’ve sat so glad to get through it successfully. One more to go, thanks OT
July 14, 2025 at 2:35 pm #718384Failed 48% absolutely devastated 🙁 Completely lost momentum and motivation for the whole lot now. Thinking of just staying part qualified.
July 15, 2025 at 1:51 pm #718425Don’t loose momentum. You are almost there. I did fail at 49%, I was so shocked and just let the tears run free but we go again in September.
July 15, 2025 at 2:03 pm #718426Wow, you must feel even worse than I do. It’s such a brutal experience. Made even worse by the fact it’s now 2 months until we can resit. I would like to try again in two weeks just so I can give myself a quick refresher and tackle the areas I knew I was weak in (which came up in my exam).
What exam did you get do you remember?
July 15, 2025 at 2:44 pm #718429I got a question on hedging and some other parts- can’t remember all.
Another was on financial analysis of the performance of a train operator comparing them to their competitor and seeking additional information about the data available.
There was a question on mergers and acquisitions- calculating synergies and querying the proposed acquisition value. The director had a financial incentive to push the deal. I was just slow and I forgot to address the ethics part of the question until it was time off.
I do believe thoroughly practicing the Mocks question and topics will help for a better outcome. Unfortunately, I felt confident and just had a poor experience recollecting in the exam venue.
July 15, 2025 at 3:11 pm #718432You got a different paper to me. I actually came out of the exam feeling like it was a total disaster but then I started to recall my answers and used ChatGPT to see if I was in the right ball park and came to the conclusion that it might be tight, which it was, so now deflated as 2 marks extra would’ve seen me over the line. I didn’t even attempt 3 big questions as I just didn’t study those parts. Sounds like we had a similar experience.
I really think we should set up a group for people attempting the September AFM exam I think we would benefit from it massively.
July 17, 2025 at 3:48 pm #718459Certainly don’t give up!
You’re both right on the line – just a little more refining and exam prep and you’ll both be clear of the line.I’ve not had the easiest run and had more resits than I’d wish on anyone – the key is to pick yourself up, open the questions banks and just keep on honing that exam technique. There is no other way in my experience to pass these exams.
Keep going – you can do it!
