It was relatively easy. All topics tested were as expected. ABC vs cost plus, Variences, LP (all eqations, graph optimal point were given..the easiest of all), Transfer pricing and Divisonal performance…
Less calculation and more descrptive types questions. Those with good writing speed and those who can have time to plan the answers will do well.there were few bottlenecks though (well for me)…like 10% volume discount from supplier..i took around 5-7 mnts to quantify this
Other was 2nd target for question 5…where we had to calculate % of visits by members..there were too many numbers..n it took a longer than expected time to get the calculation right (i hope)
was short on time and the desk assigned was wobbly…had to leave part c of 1st question 🙁June 14, 2010 at 12:46 pm #62738Piece of cake compared to F6. Thank you examiner. Thanks open tuition!!

I thought it was a bag of ****. There was little to no real calculation and the information provided to make discussion was to sparse. This made answering the questions completely ambiguous and open to interpretation. It was just far to subjective for my liking.
Don’t get me wrong it was pretty easy and straight forward. I’m just a bit miffed after spending so much time learning the equations etc…. to not actually get the opportunity to use them. Why did they even bother printing the equation sheet, they could have left this out and reduced their printing costs overheads 🙂
June 14, 2010 at 1:34 pm #62741haha. yeah. most of the question as expected!
thanks to john moffat for the tips though!
ACCA should concern about their expenses.lol

I read the paper and thought it was guna be a piece of cake, but when i got around to answering it was a bit harder than expected.
I hope to get 50% as i was rubbish at the variances and transfer pricing questions and f***ed up the shadow price question!
Other than that, it was ok.
Good luck!
June 14, 2010 at 1:48 pm #62743the new examiner did good job :p but he added graph question 🙁 i just not attampted that one and i rest of paper was good attempt, calculation of whole question was easy. theory was little difficult.
over all good paper. I hope i will get good marks.

Thanks to examiner ! i hope to pass ! yeah it’s jz piece of cake compared to F6 which still nightmare in my dreams before f5!!!! i can’t do well Q1(c,d)… asking to write pricing strategies nn….. I can’t do well Q3 (b,c) …. shadow price thing! i jz studied definition n didn’t practice shadow price Q type. i can’t do well Q5! i spent around 32 mins for Q 5 a . n didn’t get Ans correctly ! so much waste of time. 3 targets!!! anyway…. wish to pass……!
thz to open tuition!June 14, 2010 at 2:04 pm #62745AnonymousInactive- Topics: 9

All the questions were expected although some has bottlenecks thus I couldnt finish. Thanks to John and opentuitions. I ll forever have it in mind that ACCA/opentuition really wants us to pass the papers. This will surely encourage me to work hard and become a member ASAP.
June 14, 2010 at 2:21 pm #62747I think that I should get at least 50%… I may b wrong also… I pretty well-managed to answer all questions except the last part on linear programming and the trasfer pricing which I didn’t learn at all; however I managed to answer the theory part on the transfer pricing question… just hoping to be a bit above or simply on those 50%. so good luck to all of you out there, n to me also!!! 🙂

jst the shadow price question and the additional 500 hourz part wer a bit tricky, bt i think i did them right!!! 🙂I got that there was an additional 300 hours required before they hit the material constraint, and that their labour offer was just nonsense, and above the shadow price so should haggle for time and a half.

June 14, 2010 at 2:40 pm #62753I though it was quite easy and clear.Still managed to do some mistakes
June 14, 2010 at 2:53 pm #62754The paper was reasonable. You could pass if you had enough time to study beforehand (unlike me who only started preparing 2 months ago). My brain went blank when dealing with the linear programming and I could only remember a few variances 🙁 Having said that, there was enough writing for me to hope I might just about scrape through. Enough said, I’m going to enjoy an ACCA-free summer break!

Such an easy F5 exam paper I’ve ever seen…Tks Geoff Cordwell…Tks Opentuition…Most of the questions were as expected.. Luckily I specially concentrated on those 5 questions type while doing revision… Hope me and all of ppl here in this forum pass the exams >.^
June 14, 2010 at 3:22 pm #62756Hi! I think the exam was pretty easy… unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to study, but I hope to pass..
Ref. shadow pricing — I hope I remember correctly the figures:
7W+5L = 3500
2W+2L = 1201 (if I calculate it for tailor’s time)
Solve this, and obtain a shadow price of $4. Together with the normal rate of $1.5 it gives a total of $5.5, more in comparison with the tailor’s offer….so…accept the offer! This was my answer….What did you answer on Q5, last request? Thanks

May b f5 examiner is trying to compensate for f6 nightmare..
2morrow f7! Exhausted:-/June 14, 2010 at 3:28 pm #62758Paper was very easy. I’ll hope to score full marks in numerical portion but I’m afraid about the theoretical portion. The numerical portion does not has any tricky question but theoretical portion was odd.
June 14, 2010 at 3:52 pm #62759Not sure that doing numerical will help pass. I have messed half of shadow price. I am also not sure about last question which was just 6 marks numerical and rest all details of the sports manager.
hope to get pass marks, i think first 2 questions were very simple.
Cannot say with F5.low pass rates always.June 14, 2010 at 3:54 pm #62760How did you calculate that Q5 for that visitings at least 12 times? Could not get it.
And did not understand how from my calculations on linear programming i got higher contribution when production was limited to 200 w? All calculations looked ok,i got C=26000 and shadow price 4 and 10.
June 14, 2010 at 4:04 pm #62761yea i got shadow price of 4 and 10 but struggled with the 200w bit for some reason, mind went blank! Q5 think it was something like number of members x 12 divided by number of visits. i got two at over and 2 under i think and bonus was 6 x 400 so $2400. anyone agree??? hope so!
