Under the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sales of Goods, some offers are held to be irrevocable.

Which TWO of the following statements apply to an irrevocale offer?

    1) They may never be withdrawn
    2) They may never be revoked
    3) They may be revoked as long as this is done at the same time as the offer reaches the offeree
    4) They may be withdrawn as long as this is done at the same time as the ofer reaches the offeree

The correct answer is 2 and 4.

I don’t understand the difference between “revoked” and “withdrawn”
    Please, help me, Sir!

The difference between revoked and withdrawn is that withdrawal can take place before the offeree has received the offer and revocation is, literally, calling back the offer but after the offeree has received it. It’s all a matter of the timing of the receipt of the offer.

    Before receipt? Withdrawal

    After receipt? Revocation
