Dear Tutor. I am having problem with this question from bpp. Help me please.
Q1. Which one is a benefit of the informal organisation?
A. Social networking
B. Knowledge sharing
C. Getting work done more quicklyThe answer is B. But in the bpp workbook it said the benefits of informal organisation is (Social needs, Knowledge sharing, Speed and Cooperation). So I see all the 3 answers to be correct
Q2. Mark and Debbie run a DIY store and they are recruiting for an assistant. Mark puts up an advert on the notice board of his Men’s Club. It says: “Person required to assist in DIY shop. Aged under 28. Contact…”. Twi candidates turn up for interview the following week. A man who saw the advert and a woman who heard about the job though word of mouth via Debbie. Mark interviews them both asking work related questions. He also asks the woman whether she has children and how much time she expects to be dealing with her family matters.
With reference to prevent discrimination Mark is open to how many allegations of discrimination?
A. Two counts of discrimination
B. Three counts of discrimination
C. Four counts of discriminationThe answer is C. But I can only find 2 counts of discrimination. So I choose A.
November 14, 2022 at 4:35 pm #671445Q1 Social needs are recognised by Maslow and Herzberg. If some of those needs can be met in work then motivation should increase so I think A is correct. However, the question mentions social networking. It might think that this is irrelevant but I’m not sure where social needs and social networking differ. B we all agree on. C, although greater cooperation should arise within an informal organisation, these organisations can result in no one taking the lead or taking responsibility and a lack of urgency can ensue
Frankly it’s a very bad question.
Q2 Posting the ad in the Men’s Club would be indirect sex discrimination as it favours males applying; age under 28 is age discrimination; asking a woman about children is indirect sex discrimination as is asking how long you expect to spend with family matters (neither of these questions is likely to posed to male candidates).
