    Hello
ACCA suggests as well as OpenTution to take SBR before the AAA paper. However, I had taken the Financial Reporting paper (this was the paper which was SBR prior).
Can I still take the AAA paper? I am going to be sitting for an exam after a long break.

I have 2 exams left to complete ACCA. I need to take 2 optional papers from 4. I was thinking of taking ATX (UK version) and AAA.
I had taken AFM a couple of years but had failed miserably.
    Please advice.
    Thanks

From the above my understanding is that you have previously sat and passed what I think was known as Corporate Reporting or by a similar title. I believe it is recommended to take what is now known as Strategic Business Reporting before sitting AAA because knowledge from SBR is assumed for AAA.

Another important piece of advice given by ACCA with regards to option papers is to usually choose option papers that are most relevant to your present work. If you are not working in accounting or related field, the areas in which you intend in which to specialise. This is good advice as it should help motivate most people and also create useful cycles in which studying ACCA and learning practically about subjects help reinforce one another. I would think about this when choosing which subjects to take.
If you do decide to take AAA as one of your optional choices, I would suggest you ask the tutor on the ask the tutor AAA forum which areas of SBR you need to focus your revision. Even though the title has changed quite a lot of material you studied before will be similar. Of course with Tax and Reporting aspects of Accounting some also change year to year so you will have to bear this in mind.

Thank you so much for your input. Technically I feel I can take 2 papers out of 3. The Advanced Performance Management not an option for me as I was exempted from it’s Foundation paper. Therefore, I have no knowledge of it.
In terms of work related, my interest lies in Tax and Audit and that is where my work is more relevant. Hence my confusion.

Thanks again for your help and sharing the links.

    Hello,

I was wondering whether achieving a pass in AAA is still possible without having any practical experience in auditing and assurance.

For example, can someone who works in practice, particularly in corporation tax of a big 4 attempt and pass AAA successfully?

    Many thanks for your assistance

Salvatore11, yes is the short answer. Please keep in mind everything written in thread above and in links given in above thread. Of course practical experience is likely to be helpful. It is , however, possible to pass without any such experience. Practice of exam style questions is considered very important.
