Sat F7 again after failing twice before. I just cant seem to pass it. I’ve done the course with Kaplan and failed, I’ve tried to self study using Kaplan notes and OT and failed. I don’t know what else to try. Admittedly I don’t get the time I would like to focus fully as I work full time and have a toddler at home so time is a factor. Do you have any recommendations on what books I should be using and how to get the most out of studying as I don’t have unlimited hours to study, I went in feeling confident and now I’m back to square one feeling pretty terrible about failing again.

Do you have an up-to-date revision kit – Kaplan’s, BPP’s or another recognised tuition provider?

If you haven’t got one, get one

Get a blank sheet of paper in front of you and an hour free time (if possible!) and start working through the mcqs writing your answers down on the paper and NOT in the book

Hour after hour after hour of endless repetition

Try to do 20 per hour to begin with and make sure you are understanding where it is that your are going wrong

Practice the little tricks that you’ll come across

For a break and just to mix things up a bit, work through a consolidation question – say 1 every week – and a preparation of financial statements question – again, 1 each week

There is no substitute for repetitive studying / practicing and even though you’ve done all the mcqs in a revision kit, all the mtqs, all the past exam questions and all the quizzes and it’s still only half way through February – then do them all again but this time make sure that you’re scoring in the 80s!

And, whenever you get a bit stuck on a topic, post on the F7 Ask ACCA Tutor and I shall get back to you

But have the rest of today off and feel a bit sorry for yourself – if you want. Because tomorrow, when babe is asleep and partner is watching Pointless, you’re going to start

To begin with, do the mcqs topic by topic but, after a while, tackle them as they will appear in the exam – a mixture of all topics spread across the syllabus

Oh, and make sure that you take your revision kit to work with you because there’s that hour in the middle of your work day when you can get through another 20 mcqs

    And don’t give up!

    Hello,
i have just the same situation, i failed again for fourth time and i am pregnant 7 months and i will give birth on April. I failed in MCQ, they have made them more difficult. In the past i had problems in the big exercises, now it seems to me that in every exam session, they made the MCQ more difficult. But even like this, i have read and solved all the exercises with Kaplan kit, BPP kit, OT notes+Kit and failed again, i feel so disappointed but i resist on that, even if it is so expensive especially now in January with the member fees+exam fees+local charter accountant body membership…

I will try your advise, i will buy an unpdate becker kit and I will give again on 7/3/17 and i hope at last to pass it!
