Dear Sir
My name is Arathy, and am an Opentution student, I did my December p4 sitting with and failed with 47 marks,
Well am not very disappointed, because my time management was not really good , as I took more than an hour to finish Qn1I actually wanted a clear guidance so that I can startup my preparation for March sitting, and am considering to sit for only p4 as am doing my Bsc project as well
I find the lecture notes useful, my main problem is analyzing the question.
I notice this often that whatever past exam and and revision questions I went through was totally different presentation from that of the exam one.
For example the number one question in December sitting about the cost of equity was actually daunting,I had prepared for cost of equity very well , but it turned out to be tricky in the exam, with all the knowledge I had I tried my best, but I am not sure if I did it right, neither I know a clear approach to that question, though I am sure my score of 47 must be with a larger contribution of question one, because I was able to do only one question from the part b, and was struggling to choose the second number, because I had lost enough time.
Well am not disappointed but want to do my best in March sitting,
So would you please help me with some good tips and also if the questions for December 2016 is out , could you please help with a briefing on that question too
January 19, 2017 at 7:23 am #368257I am sorry that you did not pass, but with a mark so close to the pass mark you should certainly be able to pass in March.
You say that you find the lecture notes useful, but have you watched the lectures that go with them?
Also, have you got a Revision Kit from one of the ACCA approved publishers? If you have and have already worked all of the questions in it, then it might be worth buying one from one of the other approved publishers so that you have different questions to practice. With regard to time management, since question 1 is 50 marks you should be expecting to spend 1.5 hours on it, so that facebooked that you took more than 1 hour is not a problem.
Have you watched my lectures working through a few past question 1’s, because there I speak about the approach to the question as well as obviously the technical content.
With regard to the question in December, the ACCA do not publish the exams for each session – instead they have published a hybrid exam containing a selection of questions from the September and December exams. This is available on the ACCA website together with answers.
