    Hi,

I need expert advice regarding Global and English Variant of Paper F4.

What is difference between both variants?

In Middle East is it feasible to study the English Variant of Paper F4?

    Thank you

It certainly is feasible to study English Law F4 variant, wherever you are in the World

If you have any ambition at all to work and practise as an accountant / auditor in the UK at any time in the future, then you will have to select English variant

If you do not harbour such ambition, then either English or Global would be appropriate

The essential differences are that Global variant syllabus contains an extensive amount of law surrounding International trade whereas the English variant concentrates a lot deeper on English contract law

So far as learning material is concerned, there are video lectures on this site for approximately 90% of the English variant and 50% – 60% of the Global variant

Both variants have a complete set of course notes

However, it is ESSENTIAL that you obtain an up-to-date revision kit / exam kit from a reputable publisher and that you work through the mcqs and mtqs in that kit, numerous times – at least 3 times!

And here’s a useful hint … do not mark your attempts at answers in the book itself. Write your answers on a separate piece of paper. In that way your subsequent efforts will not be influenced by your earlier attempts

And, of course, whenever you hit a brick wall in your studies, post again on this F4 Ask ACCA Tutor page and I shall get back to you

    OK?

    Mr. Mike,

I am going with English variant, and I shall use the Study text of BPP and their revision kit. Further, I shall use open tuition lectures and notes for my support.

That’s good to hear – but don’t waste too much time with the study text!

Use the course notes and video lectures for most of your studying and use the study text where you need more detailed information … but remember, the study text is loaded with excessive detail

Listen to the lectures and then start into the revision kit

And post here when you need to

    Mr. Mike,

To study F4, can we go with Beckers instead of Kaplan or BPP?

Of course you can – there’s nothing wrong with Beckers

Through google I have came to know few years ago Open Tuition set a poll and asked the suggestion of students on Paper F4 text and majority had favored BPP.

Okay! that was the poll based on personal opinion.

I am bit interested in Beckers because it is offering good discount.

Mr. Mike, as you are tutor and you have thorough knowledge of all study text. As F4 is theory-based exam. I want to know which study text is better, in explaining the concepts of F4, I mean the language and vocabulary employed and example given for understanding.

Based on my above query which one you would suggest me Kaplan, BPP or Becker?

I have tried to avoid saying it outright, but you’re putting me on the spot, so here goes.

Don’t even BUY a study text – neither Becker, nor BPP nor Kaplan

Buy a revision kit / exam kit and get stuck in

You’re wasting your money buying a study text – anything for which you feel you need more detail is available on the internet or, in first instance, on this page on the OpenTuition website

    Malik, welcome to OpenTuition

Let me make one thing clear, if you don’t mind

When you have a question that is not directly related to the thread heading, may I ask that you start your own thread with an appropriate title?

I am therefore asking that you re-post this question in a new thread with such an appropriate subject line

I’ll get back to you for sure

    Thanks
