Hiya John,
I would really appreciate your advise on the following matter;
I am currently studying ACCA with the plan to take PM on the 5th Sep 18, which in another 10-15 days! I gor offered a fantastic job at a reputable company where they would prefer me doing CIMA with me being gone not too far in ACCA ( I just passed F4 with exemptions in F1,F2 & F3) . I don't mind changing to CIMA at all, but my question is can I do P1 instead of PM with the knowledge I gained form performance management ? will I have to watch all the lectures for P1 and do then do P1 or just sit for PM , then get exemption from CIMA ?
I do know it is entirely up to me which way I want to go, but I would really like to know what your advise is.
Many thanks John!
CIMA Forums
from PM to P1
Hi John
Both are good qualifications & both suitable for industry (if you could persuade your boss of this).
I teach both PM and CIMA P1 as a freelancer and there is some definite crossovers - but there are also some new bits to learn ( traditional variances, cash budgets and operating statement are not really tested directly by FM but make a big section of CIMA P1).
You will fortunately be pleased to see that linear programming, risk & uncertainty topics and advanced variances are also tested by CIMA (as PM)
No learning curve or transfer pricing on CIMA P1 though - you'll have to wait for CIMA P2 to tackle those topics!!
Hope that helps
Cath
