In August 2013 I purchased BPP study and revision kits for F5 as I was to take the exam in December 2013. It didn’t happen but I hope to take the exam in December 2014. Will the books I have already be ok for December 2014 exams or will I have to buy new ones?

In terms of the learning, the books are OK because the syllabus is not changing.

However section A of the exam will be multiple choice questions and so you will need to practice on that style of question. If you have taken Papers F1, F2 and/or F3 then you will be aware what these questions look like.
There is a specimen exam on the ACCA website for F5 and so have a look there as well.
