Hi John,
I know it sounds stupid, but I’m trying to extract a root on my calculator and I don’t know what digits to use. I have r at 5th = 0,716. What digits do you use on your calculator? It helped a lot when you explained how to calculate a number to a negative power.
I know what digits to use on my mobile but I don’t know if it is allowed to use it in he exam.
Kind regards,
Camelia
August 19, 2016 at 7:54 am #334039I can’t really help you because different calculators have different buttons.
On mine, to take a 5th root I have to press ‘shift’ and then the ‘x^y’ button. But it could well be different on yours – you need to look at the instruction manual (if you don’t have it you should be able to find it using Google). You certainly cannot use your mobile phone in the exam – you are not allowed to keep it on your desk.

thanks a lot. There are the same buttons on my Canon calculator, also.
Kind regards,
