Hi, I will not dwell on what I was doing in bachelors as it is certain I was, not doing accounting however I opted to do conversion course, former engineering student, (ACCA accredited) in MSC accounting. This is my backstory, however I would like specific points answered instead dwelling on what I ought to be doing with my degree selection, anyways questions follow:
a. The degree will give me six exemptions from F papers apart from TX, AA, and FM. My question is that knowing I can, not attempt any of three mentioned papers without satisfying completion of F1-F3, how can do I attempt TX, AA or FM when degree is part-complete (got till Sept for graduation)? Honestly, I would like to squeeze in at least two papers before I complete MSC.
b. If I can somehow get F1-F3 exemption, if (a) is true, then is it possible to squeeze in AA, TX and FM papers (2 of them) in June and September. However, I do, not know what would be the best order considering I am in full time education (i.e. TX or AA in June?) and working 10 hrs a week unpaid in a local accounting practice for experience?
The degree structure = 4 modules per semester (2 exam + 2 assignment wordy one’s) + 3 months of dissertation which I am leaving for FM for appearance in Sept.
If read through all this and understood my problem then suggestion will be appreciated!
January 1, 2020 at 9:53 am #556606There are 9 old “F” papers:
F1 is now AB, F2 – now MA, F3 – now FA … etc. If you will get 6 exemptions you will be exempt F1-F3 – also it seems F4, F5 and F7, since the three you have to take are TX (F6), AA (F8) and FM (F9).If you go to this page https://www.accaglobal.com/ie/en/student/getting-started/exemptions.html you can check how to proceed following the “Get exam exemptions guidance” button. Answer a few simple Qs – I assume your answer to “Have you completed the course/qualification that you are applying for exemptions for?” will be No. This will take you to another page with more information.
In short – ACCA does not give exemptions without supporting documentation. So “normal” procedure is get degree – claim exemptions – register for ACCA exams. However, “Step 2: Enquire about part-complete courses” suggests that you as long as you have suitable documentation you might be able to claim initial exemptions on registration for part completion and then claim exemption for the remainder on completion. So if this is possible you would:
Register and claim exemption from the knowledge module (AB, MA, FA) – register for exams (TX/AA/FM) – on completion of degree claim further exemptions (LW, PM, FR).This is as much advice as I can offer based on publicly available information from ACCA’s website – I recommend that you contact ACCA directly for any further advice regarding your specific circumstances.
