Hello John I wonder if you can help.
I know this isn’t strictly the correct forum to ask in but I could’nt find a suitable one!
I am nearly complete with ACCA (2 option papers left) however I was exempted from F1 to F3.However in a nutshell due to my circumstances ACCA have advised me that if I ever wanted to practice as an accountant (as opposed to just qualifying) I would have to forfeit my exemption and sit the F1- F3 exams.
I have just read in one of your posts that F1 – F3 are computer based and available on demand.
Am I correct therefore in thinking I could apply for the exams at any time, and do I answer them at home on my own PC? or do I have to go to an exam centre somewhere?
I would be grateful if you (or any other student) could give me advice on this as once I have have qualified I am considering forfeiting my exemption and taking the exams.
Many thanks
February 28, 2014 at 8:01 pm #161137It is true that the computer based exams are available on demand. You cannot take them at home – you have to take them at a registered CBE centre. Most of the firms of tutors are registered centres and so you need to do it at one of their premises (you can find the list on the ACCA website).
However, I am very surprised that the ACCA have told you that you have to forfeit your exemptions if you want to practise as an accountant. I do not think that is true and I would check again with the ACCA before you waste time and money taking the exams.

Yes I was suprised. The reason they gave was because the AAT qualification I have was gained over 15 years ago.
I will query it with them again nearer the time since I have worked continually since 1991 in an accounts practice and my CPD has been and still is continuous! 🙂
