what is the best exam approach? starting with the 50 mark question and then the 25 mark questions or starting with the two 25 mark questions and the 50 mark question last or start with a 25 mark question, 50 mark question and another 25 mark question last.

The best approach is the one you have practiced during your revision and preparation. From mental point of view i prefer to do Q1 first because when u finish it you have.... behind it. When you start with smaller question you have in mind you still have this big Q1 50 marker.
But till the day of exam you never now. It may occur you have to do smaller questions first just because you don't have good idea about Q1 at snap of fingers.
Always start with the one you have highest feel - it will boost your confidence during exam that you have some certain marks in your pocket already.
