Dear tutor,
Where there is self-review threat involved, can I provide generic safeguard: “Independent review of the audit work or service performed, by a professional not involved in the provision of non-assurance service”?
Is it possible that the independent reviewer review the audit work only and not the non-assurance services as it is “review of audit work or service performed ” in Code of Ethics but ACCA suggested answers have only focused on review of services performed.?
Thanks,
I don’t think generic answer points are appropriate (even for AA) as they distract from answering the question set. For example, you could completely overlook discussing that no safeguards could reduce a threat to an acceptable level.
Nowhere does the Code refer to “independent review” – presumably you mean “additional review” by, for example, different individuals.
Re your second questions – absolutely – OR means or (!)
Dear tutor,
Thank you for your comments.
For additional review by different indivisuals as you mentioned, it will normally be “an independent second partner to review the work performed” as written in ACCA suggested answer of Pointer & Co – Mar 2018 Question 2ai?
That will probably be suitable – the examiner uses the same phrase in D18 exam answers.
