    hello Cath,

I really hope you can help. This question keeps popping up in the management case study and it is linked to P pillar. I somewhat don’t know how to approach it. Actually it really baffles me.

“evaluate the extend to which a decision will drive performance within the organisation”
“how can we drive performance to…..”

how shall I approach this “drive performance” question? what is the model?

    Hi,
    Thanks for your question.
It’s a definitely a broad area and would need to relate to specific scenario examples to be appropriate for the case study answer…
However, it’s related to view that management accountant role is not just producing timely reports and cost control but also the added value they can bring through effective decision making.
Things such as investment choices, whether to expand internationally or withdraw, what prices and products to charge etc are all decisions that if effective will increase shareholders wealth (as a result of driving performance in terms of growth, profits and productivity.)
Good decision making is seen as a source of competitive advantage- simply because superior performance can be seen as a result of good decision making by the company management.
    Hope that helps
    Kind Regards
    Cath
