Depreciation

Hi Sir, I found one question regarding depreciation in which accounting policy for depreciating machinery was straight line with full charge in the years of acquisition and disposal. What does this policy indicates ? It will we done through Full charge in the year of purchase and non in the year of sale or on monthly basis ? Elaborate Please
