demerger vs. spin off

Dear john sir, is there any difference between demerger and spin off?

for spin off we generally say that it results in the value of both companies being more than then their pre-spin off combined company value. but can we say that in case of a demerger too?

The two are the same and you would generally expect the value of the two companies to be more than the pre-spin off company in both cases.
