Hi Guys, Can anyone give me any tips for passing the tax exam. I was supposed to sit this exam in March but due to illness never got to and then June was cancelled so I am literally only starting to prep for it now and haven’t been in class from December.
I was fairly strong in the class as I had received a distinction for my accounts technician so I am hoping it will all come back to me, but are there any areas in particular I should concentrate on?Any advice welcome 🙂
November 21, 2020 at 5:17 pm #595984Hiya, I’m also sitting in December and was asking similar question not long ago but didn’t get any response either! I have managed to go through whole study text but there is a lots of rules to remember, and I already forgot some! I have now started my revision to refresh memory on all important rules and I have focused mostly on IHT, Income Tax and CT. I feel sort of confident with Income tax and IHT and VAT, however I still need to refresh my memory re. CT and Computation of Gains. I also know basic admin bits but I may need to re-read all important dates etc before the exam. How you getting on with your revision? I believe we should get some IHT question in section B or 10point question is section C and CT and Income Tax in 15 mark q in section C.
Take care,
JoDecember 7, 2020 at 11:39 pm #598232Hi Jo, I’m sorry I am only seeing this now. Thanks so much for your reply, yes I’ve done similar to yourself. I’m just hoping it all comes together for me tomorrow. I sat audit today, there was major issues getting logged on to do the exam, so many people didn’t get to do their exams. Fingers crossed we get on ok tomorrow
January 13, 2021 at 11:19 pm #605750Hey Tracy how was audit? Was it better than Taxation? Which did you prefer, I’m doing both
January 20, 2021 at 12:51 pm #607285@burningdesire, I passed my audit thankfully, that was the my second attempt. I passed with 52% but tbh I thought I would have got higher as I was feeling so confident after the exam. I think Audit is one of those exams where you don’t know how you stand. For the exam this time I done so much practice and I think that’s what got me over the line. I done all the past papers off the ACCA website which helped massively because all the questions are quite similar. The multiple choice was very tricky.
I never got to sit tax as there was technical issues but am planning on doing FR and tax in March.
