CBE approach makes passing this exam so painful
Incremental budgeting / BCG / Balanced scorecard … probably the most straightforward areas in the whole syllabus, but then you end up navigating in the awkward platform, opening 5-6 windows, trying to find what the question is…
December 3, 2025 at 2:28 pm #723768Q1:
– Calculation (5 marks)
– Performance reporting (14 marks)
– Balanced scorecard (15 marks)
– “What gets measured, gets done” (6 marks)Q2: VBM-related
– How VBM is useful to the company (5 marks)
– Changes required in the existing performance system to implement VBM (10 marks)
– EVA calculation (5 marks)I got a negative EVA of -220,500. Does anyone have the same results?
Q3:
– Data visualization and its 4 advantages (10 marks)
– Reward (Clear, Motivational, Controllable) (10 marks)December 3, 2025 at 2:53 pm #723769Glad someone got there before me on this!! I spent ages scooping up imbedded requirements in the section A – Think there we 7 different pages to open. Such a lot of text for section A as well would have been better to just condensed the company information and the specific texts in one sheet to scroll through and have it on the side. The highlighting tool could use some functionality improvements too.
I spent way too much time on A, hoping I picked up a lot of marks here. Section B balanced scorecard was alright and BCG question I actually struggled on understanding what they wanted given all of it was basically done. Ran out of time to complete BCG fully. Came out genuinely not knowing if I feel like I have passed or not. This is my second attempt and went through about 15 past paper questions the past 4 days, so hoping I managed to apply the answers better to the companies. Also though ROCE cropped up all over this exam. Wouldn’t say there was a good spread of the syllabus either.
December 3, 2025 at 3:02 pm #723770Hi I had the same negative answer
December 3, 2025 at 3:54 pm #723775I think i did my calculation wrong, i got negative but not that figure
December 3, 2025 at 5:53 pm #723777I had the same paper …. I got a different result but I would t worry either way because the majority of marks will come form adding back R&D, adjusting for the capital etc and commentary so even if you/me missed a bit it won’t materially make much of a difference…. The challenge with this paper was time management and discipline imo and maybe VBM commentary if you don’t understand what is and isn’t …. Examiner reports suggest some candidly have a problem with this.
December 3, 2025 at 10:37 pm #723793I had a problem with time haha i was rushing the last question and just made a brief comment on what the EVA shows in relation to the objectives. Honestly im just praying for the best now. I made comments on EMA as well in that questions since the legal fines were a huge concern for the business
December 4, 2025 at 7:44 am #723805I guess that question was a 5 mark question so mainly it was with calculations. The main explanation was in the second part on the changes in performance measurement side
December 5, 2025 at 4:33 am #723845This is my third third or fourth time taking the APM, I have a technical issue every time.
This time invigilator said he stopped seeing me, logged me out & couldn’t relog me in.
Got stuck at Check-in queueing that wouldn’t respond….Is this re-occurrence just me?I had the Incremental budgeting / BCG / Balanced scorecard, and yes too many pages of info to scroll through while the highlighting tool and functionalities kept hanging up…hmm
December 5, 2025 at 1:02 pm #723856I had the very same technical issue with just about 20 more minutes to go. I pray we are able to finish it next week, as this would give us a chance to brush up even more.
