I cannot say that it is a rule, but the current examiner does always set out the question well and in a helpful way.
We are looking for 0.40, and the nearest in the table is 1.28 (giving 0.3997). I would leave it at 1.28, but the examiner as apportion between 1.28 and 1.29. We need an extra 0.0003, the difference between 0.3997 and 0.4015 is 0.0018. So he has got 1.28 + (3/18) = 1.282.
