As the examiner will sometimes base some of the questions in section B on reali life scenarios does anyone have any ideas? I did see a article published about provisions and thought maybe provisions and the BP oil spill would come up? ANy one had any thoughts on this?

    I read newspapers that commented:
    1. Oil spill because of few factors:
    1.1 Tsunami effect.
1.2 construction materials may have degraded quality.
1.3 There was no one realises the fact that the initial leakage was not contained, risks spread after explosion.

1.4 when the outbreak became uncontrollable, Head of BP has to step down.
1.5 here the big question of allowing to build the oil drilling platform in such easy to approve procedures
1.6 Plan for environmental control and prevention against leakagea, sustainability development,
1.7 Consequences : are BP liablie for full disclosure
1.8. corporate social responsibility mustbe madeknown to the company and public et large.
    1.9 Social accountability

2.0 At Mexican Bay incident BP was fined by USA government for 10 to 20 billions of USD. But BP is a huge company, they can issue more shares or bonds to raise cash for continuing operations though earning per share may drop.

    Wow you are good!!

Any other big topics? I am not sure how far in advance the exam papers are written? Would it have been enough time for the examiner to have covered this topic?

    Thanks

Restructuring could come up as a discussion topic – think about the banks, universities (in England), the Big 4 audit firms (review in UK and Europe).

Also, a few people are suggesting things such as problems with adopting IFRS – i.e. are they relevant for SMEs? or what other issues are there (problem with fair values etc)?
