Hi ,
Just want to get see what you guys think , as the Coronavirus is spreading everywhere in large numbers , declared a pandemic now by the WHO, and with public events and meetings in many countries cancelled. Whats the likely hood of the ACCA june exam cancelled in countries with high transmission rates?
March 11, 2020 at 11:13 pm #565128In my opinion it’s highly probable. I’m from Poland and government today announced that schools etc will be closed due to coronavirus situation. It also means that big events are suspended and for example all professional exams like our national CPA most likely will be suspended as well. Much will of course depend how this epidemy will evolve in few weeks time. There is not much we can do about it – need to wait patiently and observe situation
March 12, 2020 at 3:27 pm #565173Certain to cause some disruption, can only speculate how much. Given some had to be canceled in March fairly last minute, wouldn’t surprise me if they made large scale cancellations and early to avoid losing costs on location bookings, etc. Plus the economies of scale they lose by fewer venues/locations (student fees) .
Watch this space…March 19, 2020 at 10:03 am #565415Im currently awaiting results in April. I cannot imagine studying now and not knowing if you will sit the exam in June. the ACCA has provided support for this. The exam certainty date has always pressured me to study harder so far in my journey. Very difficult time and we just have to wait and see
March 26, 2020 at 10:26 am #565906It’ll depend on how the situation develops. The government just extended the lockdown until mid April, so things remained to be seen. In my case, I was instructed by my sponsor(employer) to put it off so I’m not taking the June exam regardless of the situation.
March 26, 2020 at 12:44 pm #565915As of last week, it was still going ahead after confirming with ACCA. They mentioned that we will be contacted (assuming via email or text) to be updated of any changes. That was prior to lockdown of course. Since I have tried calling ACCA for another quick update but they have answering message to say contact can only be made via email due to current circumstances.
I’m currently working from home so it has provided me with some flexibility for the next few weeks (apart from month-end). So i’m taking advantage and hopefully will sit it if all goes ahead. If not then hopefully September!
March 26, 2020 at 1:04 pm #565917Just out of curiosity, those who use tuition providers like Kaplan or BPP are likely to have cancelled their classes right? So why would ACCA want to still hold exams this June? I’m happy to sit but for their own convenience how will they abide by safety practices such as keeping shared equipment clean and distance between each other? We are sitting a computer based exam so we will be using a pc system provided by them. And we may be sat with other participants in the same room right? How does it work? Every test centre is set up differently up and down the country/world.
March 26, 2020 at 1:31 pm #565930ACCA operates over 400 exam centres in more than 140 countries. You will see here, for example, that centres were closed for March https://www.accaglobal.com/hk/en/student/support-students/novel-coronavirus-outbreak—faqs.html Clearly the ACCA will act responsibly and not put health and lives at risk.
This is the latest published statement for the June Exams https://www.accaglobal.com/pk/en/news/2020/march/Exams-June2020.html
I am keeping an eye on developments and will post here any new intelligence.
Tuition providers (which include universities) have not unilaterally cancelled all classes in all locations – some, I believe have moved to online/virtual classrooms – clearly that is not an option for all tuition providers or their students.March 26, 2020 at 3:34 pm #565944Just received an email from ACCA ireland that the exam will not take place in Ireland for June 2020. so for your respective country ACCA will send an email for now i guess
March 26, 2020 at 3:43 pm #565946Someone told me all exams in UK, Ireland and mainland Europe for June all cancelled? can someone confirm this please?
March 26, 2020 at 4:18 pm #565950I got an email this afternoon informing me that they will not be holding exams in June.
March 26, 2020 at 4:19 pm #565951I meant to say they will not be holding June exams in the UK.
March 26, 2020 at 4:20 pm #565952UK exams are cancelled.
March 26, 2020 at 4:21 pm #565953Yes that is correct – if you are affected you should check your spam folder(s) to make sure you are not missing notification from ACCA.
e-mails will no doubt go out in batches so not everyone will receive an e-mail at the same time.
