respected sir please clarify my confusion in consolidation about goodwill calculation,
fair value of consideration paid in some past exam question add investment given in question with investment in subsidiary but in some question ignore it what logic behind it.
I don’t think I understand your question. Well, actually, I do. But I cannot relate it to any question which I remember. You need to take the investment by the parent ( you may, and probably will, have to calculate it. Add that to the value of the nci’s investment in the subsidiary as at date of acquisition, and deduct from the total the fair value of the subsidiary’s net assets as at date of acquisition.
