are acca Chartered accountant ? I read across many forums and found conflicting response .One say ,ACA (ENGLAND & WALES ) grants you that title Chartered accountant and work as auditor and acca isn’t .I joined ACCA on the perception that they are Chartered accountant. Many of Institutes here say “they are globally accepted chartered accountants ” I got exemption in ACCA as I was coming from ICAI Background .
sorry for posting in ” Ask tutor forum” posted here so as you don’t miss my query and I get an answer
May 5, 2017 at 3:13 pm #384959In the UK, the word ‘chartered’ simply means that they have been granted a Royal Charter, which makes it sound good but doesn’t make it better 🙂
An ACA is someone who passed the exams of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and they can call themselves a Chartered Accountant.
An ACCA is someone who passed the exams of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and they can call themselves a Chartered Certified Accountant.
They are both chartered, and there isn’t really any difference in the level of the two qualifications.
May 5, 2017 at 3:22 pm #384961so I can call myself as Chartered accountant and work globally compared to ACA ones who get restricted to work as auditor in England .Am I right?
May 5, 2017 at 8:02 pm #384988Yes (assuming that you want to work as an auditor 🙂 )
May 6, 2017 at 5:39 am #385020to work as an auditor do I need to take P7 as one optional subject ? I was thinking to take P6 as I find it easier over p7. p4 p6 combination I was thinking but if this restrict me to practice as auditor I need to rethink my choice right?
