Hi,
I’m due to sit my OCS in May, just wondering what everyone’s views are on Case Study online at home and if anyone has sat one at home and one in a test centre and any pros/cons? I’ve passed E1/F1/F1 at home over the last 9 months or so and planning to sit OCS at home in May just worried about connection issues at home for a 3 hour exam as never sat an exam this long at home.
February 28, 2021 at 1:16 pm #612120Hi there,
I am in the same situation. But I’m hoping the Exam Centres will be open again by May.Also, my Online course with Kaplan won’t start until the end of March. Is there anything I should/could be doing in the meantime?
Thanks! 🙂
February 28, 2021 at 3:25 pm #612144HI. I had my OCS at home. Not by choice- it was a lockdown, so the only option avialable.
You can never really be 100% sure- I think I would rather have it in a test centre if I had a choice.
My exam was going ok until about 10 minutes before the end. My screen froze for about 2 seconds and the proctor’s window came up asking me if everything is ok. I said yes and he wanted me to move my laptop around to show what I have around me and on the table. At the end I was ok to continue. I lost like 2 minutes because of that and trust me- on OCS every minute counts. I don’t know if it was my laptop or connection. LAptop is quite new and I had it connected to the router via cable to avoid connection issues as much as possible.May 25, 2024 at 1:56 pm #706005Considering transitioning from online to in-person OCS exams raises concerns about home connectivity for longer tests. Experience with IQ online tests can inform decision-making but warrants preparation for potential connectivity issues.
June 11, 2024 at 6:17 pm #707152When deciding between an online exam and a test center exam, consider the following factors to determine which option suits you best. Additionally, if you need assignment help, think about how each option might impact your access to resources:
1. Convenience and Comfort
Online Exam: You can take the exam from the comfort of your home, saving time and effort spent traveling to a test center. This can give you more time to focus on your studies and seek assignment help if needed.
Test Center Exam: Requires traveling to a specific location, which may add stress and take up more of your time. Less time at home might mean less access to immediate assignment help.
2. Environment
Online Exam: Familiar environment, but there might be potential distractions at home. Ensure you have a quiet, uninterrupted space, which can also be beneficial for working on assignments and seeking help.
Test Center Exam: Controlled environment, free from home distractions, but it can be unfamiliar and potentially anxiety-inducing. You may have less flexibility to quickly access assignment help during study breaks.
3. Technical Requirements
Online Exam: Requires a reliable computer, internet connection, and possibly specific software. Technical issues can disrupt your exam and your ability to access online assignment help.
Test Center Exam: No need to worry about technical requirements; the center provides the necessary equipment. However, you’ll need to manage your assignment help before or after your test center visit.
4. Supervision and Proctoring
Online Exam: May use remote proctoring tools that monitor you via webcam and screen sharing. Ensure you are comfortable with the privacy implications. Remote proctoring can be more flexible if you need assignment help before or after the exam.
Test Center Exam: In-person proctors oversee the exam, ensuring a standardized testing environment. The rigid schedule might limit your ability to access assignment help close to your exam time.
5. Exam Format and Integrity
Online Exam: Sometimes the format can be different to accommodate the online setting. Measures to prevent cheating are in place but may vary in effectiveness. Consider how this might impact your preparation and assignment help needs.
Test Center Exam: Typically offers a traditional exam format with strict measures to ensure academic integrity. The familiarity might help reduce stress, allowing you to focus better on your assignments.
6. Accessibility
Online Exam: More accessible if you live far from test centers or have mobility issues. Easier access to assignment help services since you’re at home.
Test Center Exam: May be less accessible due to location and transportation needs. Plan your assignment help sessions around your travel schedule.
7. Cost
Online Exam: Can be less expensive as it eliminates travel and accommodation costs, potentially freeing up funds for assignment help services.
Test Center Exam: May have additional costs associated with travel, parking, or accommodations if needed, which could limit your budget for assignment help.
8. Personal Preference and Exam Stress
Online Exam: If you are more comfortable and relaxed at home, this can reduce exam stress, leaving you more energy to focus on your assignments and seek help.
Test Center Exam: If you prefer a structured environment and can manage stress well in unfamiliar settings, a test center might be better, though less flexibility for assignment help.
9. Support and Resources
Online Exam: May have limited access to on-the-spot technical or procedural support, but easy access to online assignment help.
Test Center Exam: Immediate access to proctors and support staff if issues arise during the exam. Plan ahead to access assignment help resources before your exam.
Decision-Making
Evaluate your personal circumstances, preferences, and the specific requirements of the exam, including how assignment help fits into your study plan. Here’s a summary to help you decide:Choose Online Exam if:
You prefer the convenience of staying home.
You have a reliable technical setup.
You can manage potential home distractions.
You are comfortable with remote proctoring.
You want easier access to assignment help services.
Choose Test Center Exam if:You prefer a controlled, distraction-free environment.
You do not want to worry about technical issues.
You feel more confident with in-person supervision.
You have easy access to a test center.
You can manage your schedule to include assignment help sessions before or after the exam.
Ultimately, choose the option that aligns best with your comfort level, technical capabilities, and the specific requirements of your exam, while also considering your need for assignment help.June 26, 2024 at 6:55 pm #707619Hi guys! Which levels can one take exams for online? Though a little skeptical because I have never taken an online exam, and I don’t trust my internet and device, I am considering taking my P1 and operational level case study. Do I have to have completed all operational papers to register for the case study? I passed my E1 and F1 long before the introduction of case studies at every level!
Meanwhile, are the fees for paper based assessments different from online assessments?
July 3, 2024 at 1:14 pm #707753Yes you have to pass all level for you to be able to book your OCS exam. Just an encouragement….i too have the same issue, passed my P1 a week ago. Now going for the august case study. I would recommend you go for the November OCS instead if you havent already sat for your P1 at this point.
