Does anyone know if we can find reviews for various mentors? I have a difficulty in choosing a reliable mentor because i don’t attend classes and dont know many other students who are doing this project, so i cant really get recommendations.

Presumably you have consulted the registered mentor list? However it is important that you do some homework as not all mentors are reliable and reputable!

Word of mouth is a more reliable way of finding someone and ensure that before you part with any money they have agreed the terms and conditions with you in WRITING. You could also ask for details of their pass rates – a reputable mentor will be happy to supply these and won’t mind if you subsequently ask OBU to verify these.

Generally you will find that cheaper mentors offer less service – the better mentors will encourage and develop your academic skills and also have the skills to do an academic review of your work. Therefore as they are using more skills and putting in more time, their services usually cost more

We have 2 recommended mentors (this is not to say other mentors are not suitable). However the following have enviable reputations:

    These are
The Learning Luminarium in Singapore and
absolute mentoring based in the UK –
genuine student feedback for these can be found on our thread ‘Advancing the Quality’ – go to the last 2 or 3 pages of the thread for the more recent feedback about these two mentoring organisations

Good luck with your RAP and please give us your feedback eventually on your mentoring experience
