Hi Chris
Just a quick question after watching your informative lecture on Operating Segments. The Chief Operating Decision Maker, is there for example one guy (or girl) in a group reviewing the results of all of the operating segments, or does each operating segment have its own Chief operating decision maker within that segment. I suspect it is the former but just seeking reassurance!?
Cheers
Hugh
Hi Hugh,
Thanks for the kind comments. The basic idea is that there is one person (group of people=board of directors) who is/are casting their eye over the entire operation of the enterprise and that is the CODM. It would be easier to call it the CEO but that isn’t a global term for the person in charge of an entity, hence why we have CODM in the IFRS to encompass the equivalent of CEOs elsewhere in the world.
Thanks
