Sir in example 3 of course notes you subtracted the specific cost from the cost to date and then added estimated cost to it. but in example no 5 you didn't subtracted the specified cost ?
Why so? or there is some thing more which I am missing ?

Because in example 3 the period specific costs were included within the one figure for costs to date whereas in example 5 the period specific costs were shown separately
