There's also the audit manager. Is there a hierarchy we should know about? Also, what roles do they perform in the audit process. For example, when you're assessing audit risk for classes of accounts/ assertions during the planning process, and you have to speak with management or do substantive procedures, who exactly will do what?

Your partner varies with the assignment and will be the engagement partner for each assignment.
