I want to know when can you class yourself as a part-qualified cima member.

According to cima it is after you pass all business accounting fundamentals you can use the term part qualified in your resume.

This would be useful for me as I am job hunting at the moment.

    So can anyone confirm this?

I have been told by CIMA that you are part qualified as soon as you pass your first Case Study. That makes sense as it is the half way

Also you get a certificate at this point (I just got mine :)) which entitles you to use some letter after your name, if you wish. Formally it is a diploma level.

Can I suggest for your CV to just mention that you are an active student? I had the same dilemma and found that in many situations employers don’t understand the concept of CIMA and ACCA stages anyway. So rather than pigeon hole myself I’d apply for jobs that wanted PQ and just let the experience on my CV get me to interview stage. You can talk through your ambition to qualify later.
    Good luck 🙂
