General ACCAAnswer Formats + Saving the Practice answers in ACCA practicesoftware

Hi, I have two questions (one FR-related and one general)

The solutions to past papers in Kaplan use a different template from the ACCA marking videos (where an examiner shows us how the marking process works).

For example, in one ACCA marking video, the consolidated statement of profit or loss used a six-column approach: narrative, P's, S's, S's %, adjustments, and total. The approach used in OT notes has five columns: narrative, P's, S's %, adjustments, and total. Meanwhile, exam kits like Kaplan seem to use a two-column approach: narrative and numerical figures.

Now I'm confused because, why is kaplan not giving us 5 or 6 column approach in their answers

Are all of these approaches acceptable in the exam? If so, which one should I use? I'm genuinely unsure whether there's a standardized way we're expected to present these answers.

Also, when practising questions from my physical exam kit, should I attempt them in MS Excel or on the ACCA practice platform?

I don't think the CBE platform saves our answers, so I'm wondering if I should use Excel for most of my practice and then use the CBE platform in the final week just to get familiar with the actual exam interface. What is the recommended approach?

Would really appreciate some clarification.

For the first part of your question, all three approaches are accepted. However the marks are not just for the final figures but also for the workings which is why the 5 or 6 column approach is better because then you do not need to write the narrative. The 5 column approach is probably the best because it is slightly quicker and will get all of the marks :-)

For the second part of your question. it is sensible to use Excel while you are learning and practicing. But it is vital that you switch to using the ACCA CBE platform in plenty of time before the exam because it is a bit different to using Excel and it is essential that you get used to using it without wasting time.
