Hi, I’m studying for F4 English Variant and I was wondering if the lectures and the notes are enough to score 90+. I need a high score and not just a pass for personal reasons but I cannot settle on anything below 90. I have the study text with me but I find it absolutely terrible on how they explain things so is it necessary that I do the study text along with the lectures and notes? I’m aware the exam kit is essential and I plan on doing it thoroughly but I’m not sure about the study text as it looks like a waste of time and effort.

I tend to agree with you about the study text! It goes into phenomenal detail and is ‘comprehensive’ to say the least!

You say that you have a revision kit – I suggest that you become excessively friendly with it to the extent that it never leaves your side

    Watch the videos – yes

Read the course notes – yes, multiple times

Practice answering questions from the revision kit – yes, for hour after endless hour! Multiple repetitions, over and over again and again and then… again

Every question in that kit 4, 5 and even 6 times until you’re getting every answer correct with only extremely rare slip-ups

And, whenever you hit a solution to a question that you don’t understand, post your question on the Ask ACCA Tutor forum and I shall get back to you

    OK?

Yes I understand thank you. I was wondering if one kit would be sufficient or should I get another kit from another publisher as well. I do have a Kaplan kit so should I invest in the BPP kit as well?

I doubt very much that that will make any noticeable difference – save your money

    OK?

    Hi Ilham,

How was your exam? Were you able to achieve 90+ with this prep method? I am aiming for that as well, as I need it to get a decent score in obu. Study texts been really horrible.

Looking forward to your reply. Many thanks in advance.

    Hello Afzal,

I haven’t really attempted the exam yet. I finished the syllabus but I need to give F9 in March so it was becoming too overwhelming to do both. I’m practicing F4 exam kit and doing a chapter from the study text every then and now so I’ll probably give the exam over the course of a few months. I don’t want to rush it and score lower than what I want.

@ayeshasohail no I have not yet. I have decided to give it after I’ve done all the other applied skills exams. F4 is quite easy which is why I’ve saved it for last.
