I am quite depressed at the moment I am just feeling blank right as now as my exam approaches this sept I have understood the metrics of simple calculations but I am not able to apply them better in the revision kit the questions especially those where the examiner gives a question that entirely different to how it is covered in the notes and other materials its like wall that hit my head I feel I need to start fresh but I cannot convince my parents can you please for the love Jesus Christ suggest me how to prepare for this paper
thanking you
Ali MahdiAugust 5, 2018 at 10:30 am #466231I don’t know how you have been studying, but if you are using our free lectures notes then I assume that you have been watching the free lectures that go with them? Using the notes on their own is pointless because they are only lectures notes and it is in the lectures that we explain and expand on the notes.
Also, I don’t know whether you took Paper F9 (now Paper FM), or whether you were exempt from it. However most of the techniques in AFM are revision of those in FM and so if necessary you should watch the relevant Paper FM lectures as well.
The huge difference between AFM and FM is the at the Paper FM level you were being tested mainly just on the techniques involved, whereas at AFM (as a professional level exam) you are able to apply the techniques to more ‘real life’ situations – deciding how to interpret the information, deciding which techniques are relevant, and deciding what assumptions to make. Once you have learned the techniques, you can only ‘learn’ how to apply them by practicing question after question in your Revision Kit (and if you have already practice all the questions, then consider buying a Revision Kit from the other approved publisher so that you have different questions to practice).
In addition to our study lectures, have you watched the lectures working through a few past exam questions (the are linked from the main AFM page as ‘Revision Kit Live’)? These lectures discuss the approach to the questions – not just the technical content.
