Hi All
I have just completed F5 and F9 in December. F9 may be a repeat as I had a terrible exam. I knew the stuff just froze up in the exam. Anyway, I did like the topics in F9, did not find it overly difficult and understood most of the logic.
I am wondering, how close to F9 is P4. I plan on taking a P paper in March, and assuming I do pass F9, would P4 be a logical choice?Or is P4 best avoided to some extent?

Have you an interest in financial management? Have you sound knowledge of F5 and F9? If so, yes, go for it.
Although I would not suggest attempting any optional paper before passing P1, P2 and P3 as there is bucket-loads of assumed knowledge from these three as well. Further reason to wait is the totally different structure of the paper itself – it has nothing to do with the foundation level, and attempting the most challenging optional papers MIGHT overwhelm you.
To conclude, do what you believe to be right for you. Choose the paper based on your interest in the subject and competence at the previous level – if you like your selected area of study it will be easier to put up with the long hours of study. DO NOT go for a paper based on its perceived “ease”… they all have their tricks and what is easy for me might be hard for you.
I hope this helps! Good luck with your ACCA journey 🙂
