If a company acquires a target company. Will they have to buy 100% shares? or just above 50% of the shares. in mergers, how much is the ratio of the shares held by target co. and acquiring co.?

9y ago#1Unless you are told different in the question, then an acquisition will mean buying 100% of the shares.
With mergers, there is no rule - it depends on what the two companies agree.
