New to ACCAACCA registration - FIA or ACCA qualification?

Kkuppa5y ago
Hi all, I am new to ACCA and wanted to register in the ACCA website. In the ACCA application, the second page - Qualification shows 3 options - Foundations in Accountancy (FIA)., ACCA Qualification and Diploma in International Financial reporting. I am not from accounting background so I cannot choose Diploma in International Financial reporting. However, I have completed my Bachelors degree and I am working as a Business Analyst in Finance. Am I eligible to choose ACCA Qualification? Please advise.

Short answer - YES See here https://www.accaglobal.com/us/en/qualifications/accountancy-career.html You don't need any degree to start on the ACCA Qualification - if you have any degree you will be eligible - you just won't get any exemptions. It's not a "bad thing" to have no exemptions - starting at the beginning will ensure that you have the assumed knowledge that is necessary to progress to the applied skills level and then to the strategic professional level. Even if you don't have an accounting background - if your degree had any element of "business" it might be worth checking whether you could get exemption from the "Business Technology" exam using the exemption calculator https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/help/exemptions-calculator.html (it will take you only a minute to check).

Wow! Thanks so much for the prompt response. This was very useful information. If I may ask, I have another question related to the ACCA registration. There is a section that asks for Registration code given by education provider. Does this code work as a discount coupon or is there any other use for it? Thanks again, Kim!

A registration code only applies to university students who are still studying for their degrees - this code is used instead of employment status. So this is N/A to you.
