Hi,
Hope all the people could give me some advice.
I’ve just recently got an accounting job after completing all acca exams (now an affiliate). I wonder how long do people normally ask your supervisor to sign off each objectives? I heard that some people get signed off over 1 year for 9 objectives and some people just get signed off within 6 months. If I am doing accounting job everyday i.e. accounting assistant. Do you think this is sensible if I am asking my supervisor to sign off 3 objectives every 2 or 3 months? I don’t want to leave all 9 at the end of the year etc., Thanks a lot.

“It’s best to record your progress as you go along, adding new roles if you change jobs and getting you’re time signed off if you are leaving a role.”
“You can work on multiple objectives at the same time and send any combination of objectives and elements to your supervisor for approval.”
So much better to take a piecemeal approach – you only have to look at some of the posts on the QUALIFIED forum (which is now most relevant to you as an affiliate) to see all the complications that arise if objectives are not signed off as achieved.
June 29, 2021 at 12:32 pm #626597Thanks a lot Kim. I will have a look there now. Do you advise that I should record and ask supervisor to sign each objective once I think I’ve done them rather than leaving all later? thanks.
June 29, 2021 at 1:52 pm #626601I think you should judge as you go along – if your work at some point covers multiple objectives and you finish one and another will be completed relatively soon – it won’t hurt to wait. But if completing another is some months off you might be better to “bank” what you’ve completed.
July 1, 2021 at 1:58 am #626754As an accounts assistant you may not be able to complete some objectives as many of the options are quite stretching. As you have to get three years experience you’ll develop in your career and can complete the PER over that time. I did this, completing it after almost three years and a promotion. But I didn’t start the exams until after a year in the role – two more exams to go.
