Hi,
Hope you are safe and well.
I am new to ACCA, based in the UK, so slightly unaware of how the exam booking system works. I had spoken to an ACCA advisor earlier this year about booking the Corporate and Business law exam after registering as a student. He said that it is fine to attempt this exam first.
I am however slightly confused in terms of how to book this exam. The link below suggests that this exam can only be attempted at certain times of the year ? However I have always been under the impression that this is a CBE exam and could be taken all year around, similarly to the Applied Knowledge exams ?
This link, is to the fees webpage, as I was trying to understand the costs. However there is an early/standard/ late entrant fee associated with this exam ? Hence why I am slightly confused. I thought you could just book at an authorised ACCA centre like the 3 Applied knowledge exams.
I am new to this so was hoping a tutor/ or ACCA student familiar with how the exam structure works in the UK can shed some light on this ?
Thank you for your time and help.
July 20, 2020 at 6:59 am #577419My understanding of the arrangements for taking the first 4 papers (therefore including the law paper) is that you are able to take it at anytime but you’ll need to liaise with a local approved CBE centre
I don’t know whether Covid19 has affected the situation – again, that’s something you could find out when you’re talking with the CBE centre
Has that helped?

July 20, 2020 at 10:52 pm #577510Just leaving this here incase any other student has a similar question to the one I posted above and was looking for an answer and is based in the UK.
I spoke to ACCA student advisor over the phone and they confirmed exactly what Mike mentioned above. The Corporate Business Law paper is a CBE exam and can be taken at anytime in the year, just like the 3 Applied Knowledge exams.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation, as local ACCA approved exam centre is closed, exams can be done remotely. It is done in partnership with the British Council and Proctor- U

Hope this is helpful to someone looking for an answer to the question I originally posted above. Please keep in mind that this applies to the UK and may be different in other countires.
