DipIFRACCA and planning to take DipIFR – Need guidance!

MMarlon1y ago
Hi everyone! I recently discovered ACCA — I’ve heard of it before, but my real interest only started last month. I'm planning to take the DipIFR exam to earn the diploma, but to be honest, I’m feeling quite lost about where and how to start. I’ve been working in finance and accounting for over 7 years now, and I’m looking to progress further in the field — which is what led me here. I want to make sure I’m on the right track before investing time or money into any review program or study materials, so I’m hoping to get some guidance from those who’ve been through this journey. Where should I begin with my DipIFR prep? Are there any free or affordable review resources you’d recommend? Any tips or advice would be really appreciated! Thanks in advance and wishing you all the best in your studies as well!

When I used to lecture on FA and FR, it always struck me that DipFR could be attempted with a good chance of success when a student had a sound understanding of accounting. That understanding can be achieved using OpenTuition's notes and lectures for those two papers. Why not dip into OpenTuition's material with a copy of the DipFR syllabus by your side and make your own assessment? Hope that helps!

The current FA is no longer very relevant as it has next to no IFRS content. You need a good grasp of FR, though the question practice is mostly OT so not as independent as you need for DipIFR. You also need SBR topics like IAS 19 and IFRS 2. Most of all you need DIpIFR exam style and standard Q practice, which you won't find in recent ACCA qualification exams, so I do invest in a revision kit. Use all the relevant resources https://www.accaglobal.com/uk/en/student/exam-support-resources/dipifr-study-resources.html - but note that the past exams are NOT technically updated, so only use the most recent (which you will not find in a current edition revision kit). It's important to have technically up-to-date question practice consistent with IFRS 18 (not IAS 1, which has been superseded in the exams).
