Hi,
Disaster, worse than December when I couldn’t sit the exam as they couldn’t launch it. This time exam launched and with remaining time of 1hr and 30mins the system froze. The invigilator called me and then she said she will save it and relaunch – she didn’t ended up hanging up on me.
I am so frustrated and disappointed this is my last exam.
Does anyone know if they will take this into account when marking, although I only did 50%? Raised a mitigated circumstance.
March 1, 2021 at 2:37 pm #612346@Anisa I think you would be better off asking for and expecting a credit – if you could only attempt 50 marks worth of the exam you cannot get 50 out of 50 no matter how mitigating the circumstances.
March 1, 2021 at 3:03 pm #612360I also had the issue with AAA exam. I couldnt launch the exam because it was told to me that they dont see my camera (however I saw myself on the screen). I wrote on “Contacts us” page to retake exam, however I am not sure if this will be possible. I’ve read that only fundamentals exam can be retaken. So now I am waiting for the response.
Ive prepared a lot for this exam and I am really disapointed that I could not launch it…March 1, 2021 at 3:22 pm #612367That happened to me in December, its shocking that its an AAA paper and ACCA cannot get their controls in place.
Apparently there were issues today with a lot of candidates. I have had to do this now 3 times due to technical issues. Its so unfair. Its my last exam
March 1, 2021 at 4:06 pm #612387A few tips;
1) You definitely need to log in 30 mins early (go to book exam and then start exam link appears exactly 30 mins before the start of your exam). You have to take pictures from each side from your phone (which you then have to put behind you). You are then put in a queue and made to wait (number of people updates after 30 seconds which helps)
2- Before you get let in you speak to an invigilator (based overseas). I had an argument with mine as he said my scientific calculator wasn’t correct and only a simple calculator could be used. Only after a 15 minute argument did he let me in. They are clearly confusing what a programmable calculator is!
3) Chat function kept coming up saying my camera wasn’t working (which it was) as I could see myself on the screen. Looks like they had a problem at there end. I had to argue and tell them to let someone else check as my camera was working fine. I did get a bit annoyed and tell them they were wasting my time.
Overall I lost some time but exam content was ok and was able to finish
March 1, 2021 at 4:48 pm #612398they told me my camera was not working. they tried to reset twice and they said “because they have tried twice, they will need to revoke my exam. I am totally raging. 2 months hard study, £173 and 2 days of annual leave wasted.
Absolutely gutted
March 1, 2021 at 5:12 pm #612404I hope we will get credit note or we will be able to retake exam in next week. If no, those remote exams are really waste of time…
Today I have waited 1 hours and 40 minutes in “check -in” queue. I have login in on 10:45 (exam time was 11:15). I was writing on chat but none was replying… After almost 2 hours (around 12:45) Greeter told me that he cannot saw me on camera. Disastser :/March 1, 2021 at 5:30 pm #612411@gosia333 – I’m afraid on applied skills exams are available next week – see at point 1 of this page https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/remote-session-exams/on-exam-day.html
March 1, 2021 at 6:47 pm #612436Its shocking that since Jun’20 ACCA has not bee able to run exams efficiently.
I raised a mitigating circumstances and emailed to the complaint team – something needs to be done.
The invigilators are not helpful, their solution is withdraw. It takes months of preparation for these exams. My invigilator hanged up on me, thats how bad. I recorded everything and emailed it to acca.
I have had to book this exam 3 times now!!!
March 1, 2021 at 6:51 pm #612438Do you know how much time we have to withdraw from the exam? I am still waiting for the response from ACCA and I will take next steps after their reply, but I am wondering how much time do I have to withdraw in my profile (Europe).
March 1, 2021 at 7:52 pm #612456I have no idea. But in December session I didn’t withdraw, they automatically credited me as I didn’t take the exam and raised a complaint.
March 1, 2021 at 8:36 pm #612465anyone try to get though to the contact line today? I’ve been calling them for the last 3 hours one three separate lines and am still waiting to get through! have had technical issues as well so frustrating!!!!!
March 1, 2021 at 8:55 pm #612471I went to the normal members one I think option 4. Option 2 the remote help line couldnt get through. When I did get through the line was terrible and we didnt come to a resolution.
I also emailed complaints@accaglobal.com with detail of exactly what had happened. Screen shots of my screen and a video of what happened. Also I raised a mitigated circumstances via my acca.
It was so poor today. I lost half a paper just because of their technical issues. 3rd sitting with technical issues cannot be justified.
March 1, 2021 at 9:39 pm #612462I was supposed to start my exam at 10.15 am GMT. After being put in a queue at least twice my exam was eventually launched around 11.40 am GMT (1 hour 25 minutes later)!
At one point the invigilator said that my “camera had gone black”. While in the queue, they said there were problems with my connection – meanwhile I used a wired connection and my internet was fine!
Just when I thought my exam would be cancelled a new invigilator said that they were going to launch my exam.
I think I’ll complete a mitigating circumstances form because I found the long wait so stressful that I couldn’t concentrate properly when the paper was finally launched.
March 2, 2021 at 10:31 am #612595I was to sit AAA at 11:15 after it had been cancelled in December due to technical issues. The invigilator would not launch the exam as they said my camera was not working. I have screenshots to show that it was. I plead with the invigilator to help me as I couldn’t go through this again after taking 2 days annual leave and having studied so hard for 5 days. They just kept saying I had to withdraw and rebook, no help, no interest. I asked to speak to the persons supervisor and the just cut me off. That’s twice in a row now I’ve had to go through this. I can’t face it again. I want to do something but feel powerless. They don’t care, they know they have me trapped and there is nothing I can do. I tried ringing but their phones wouldn’t work. I emailed them, so I should receive a standardised reply in about 3 days and then if I follow up be told it was my fault, even though it clearly wasn’t.
March 2, 2021 at 1:09 pm #612663I am so upset, the same thing happened to me – after 45 minutes in the queue, the greeter said they could not see me in the camera (even though I could see myself in the systems test and on the screen before the exam). The chat window kept closing too, and it was more than difficult to contact ACCA over the phone i tried 14 times before I got through. Finally the greeters put me through to techsupport, and after running through the checks, firewall etc – he decided to revoke my exam as we had spent 2+ hours trying to resolve the camera issue. ACCA has said the only option is to withdraw and do it in June. I am sitting SRB on Thursday, hopefully an entirely new laptop will help, but if I pass the systems test like I did on the current laptop and it breaks on the day, what can I do ? this is so frustrating and exhausting. If I had passed this would have been my last 2 exams ! But now another 3 months of study to keep up what I have done. Why I could not join a later remote session I do not know, and why they do not offer advanced papers in week 2 I also do not know. Overall – extremely upset !
March 2, 2021 at 2:03 pm #612683Raise a mitigated circumstances. If we all complain about this then something will be done.
Its my 3rd time I am doing this exams with technical issues. I am shocked at the responses you get from the invigilators. I was so upset when they suggested to take the exam in Jun’21 again. The fact they think the only solution is to wait another 3 months to take the exam is sufficient it shocks me.
I took a week off my personal annual leave where I didnt even leave the house for walks because the questions come up are so random.
Please raise mitigated circumstances and complain complaints@accaglobal.com
March 2, 2021 at 2:33 pm #612686If considering claiming mitigating circumstances – see “What happens if I have attended my examinations but it has been affected by illness or other factors?” here:www.accaglobal.com/uk/en/help/exam-sessions.html
Note that it is only appropriate to claim mitigating circumstances when an exam has been submitted for marking. Submissions should be made via MyACCA.March 2, 2021 at 3:04 pm #612691Yes, thank you for the info. The mitigating circumstance does not apply to me as I did not get to start the exam at all. I sent a complaint email to complaints@accaglobal.com and requested a re-sit ASAP, even though I knew it was a long shot. I got a response just now saying I would have to re-sit in June and that my fee had been credited back to my account. They also suggested I check my webcam even though I had sent them screenshots of my camera working while I was chatting to the invigilator. I received no apology for the time and money that this has cost me and no admission that the fault was not at my end, even with the screenshots and my pointing out that many other people had experienced the same issue as me. The lack of accountability is infuriating and extremely unprofessional! They have a dismissively arrogant attitude, but I suppose there is nothing I can do about it, they have all the power and they don’t care!
March 2, 2021 at 3:14 pm #612695Yes, it looks like June is the only option – I really wish they would take into consideration how hard we all work, and how exhausting it all is. More sympathy and better solutions would have been great (i.e. another go next week)
March 2, 2021 at 3:18 pm #612696Also, what do we think about June 2021 – will these exams also be remote or in-centre ? Looking at Step 3 of the roadmap in the UK, the week of exams still ‘Indoors, the Rule of 6 or 2 households will apply’ and ‘until this point, people should continue to keep their distance from anyone not in their household or support bubble.’
Will this apply to exam halls ?
March 2, 2021 at 3:27 pm #612699I will not be taking an exam in June unless it is an an exam hall. I have now tried to take 3 exams remotely and I only got to sit one of them, SBL in December. I have been unable to sit AAA twice and I have been using the same laptop in the same location for all 3. It makes no sense. I can’t take more time off work and study so hard for for a remote exam in June when I now have to assume the exam will probably not go ahead.
March 2, 2021 at 3:42 pm #612710I have anxiety just thinking about doing a remote exam again. I am shocked at the lack of empathy and the fact that they do not prepare a paper specifically for those that have technical issues to take the next day.
The irony here is that its an Audit paper, one of the questions that came up was on controls and reputation risk. Clearly ACCA is exempt from this.
March 2, 2021 at 6:25 pm #612774Hi, Has anyone completed the mitigating circumstances form on ACCA. I have tried to submit one when i log into ACCA but it seems like it is not sending. Do you get a notification via email upon submitting?
March 2, 2021 at 6:33 pm #612780Did you select remote? I was able to submit, the confirmation ended in my junk mail for some reason.
