Hi, I understand that FR is recommended to be write before AA, but I am planning to give AA exam December 2020. I thought 45 days is sufficient to cover the AA syllabus (hoping it is more theoretical sub) with self study .

This is my 1st exam in ACCA. Can I self study AA? (of course with the help of Open Tuition)

    My Education background:
I got exempted from F1-F4. I graduated 5 years ago. Except the golden rules, I hardly remember the basics, financial statements and all. Which subject would you recommend to study for gaining strong foundation in Accounts?

    Thank you in advance

It is only the financial reporting knowledge of FA, not FR, that is assumed knowledge for AA. That said, it certainly doesn’t hurt to do FR before AA. Note however that the audit of group/consolidated financial statements is not examinable in AA.

It is particularly helpful to have a thorough grasp of double entry bookkeeping for AA – after all – that is essentially what the auditor audit (i.e. how transactions are recorded through an accounting system and the resulting balances that are reporting in the statement of financial position). Excluding the consolidation-related chapters, you could refer to our FA materials – you can test your assumed knowledge with the end-of-chapter tests and if you aren’t getting the questions right you may need to spend time revising FA topics.
