Guidance note on preparation for the June 2022 TX-UK Examination

VIVA

Students wishing to prepare for the June 2022 TX-UK Exam are advised to follow the plan listed below:

  1. As an introduction to the subject students should firstly watch the two Introductory lectures that highlight the nature and content of the TX-UK Paper and lay down a foundation to be built upon by the subsequent use of the detailed Study Notes and lectures.

These general Introductory lectures were last recorded in 2019 but continue to be valid for future exams, though please note that towards the end of the 2nd Introductory Lecture, the important issue of using the relevant material in your exam preparation is discussed and emphasised, which at the date recorded was for Finance Act (FA) 2018 – the Finance Act that the June 2022 exam is based upon is FA 2021.

Students often ask is it ok to use either a Study Manual or Exam Q & A Kit from an earlier year  – the answer is no! If therefore you are considering purchasing supplementary material – and you will need an Exam Q & A Kit from one of the approved ACCA providers – then it must be the FA 2021 edition.

  1. Once the Introductory lectures have been watched you should then read the article “Use of FA 2021 Study Notes with the old lectures” – which is designed to allow students immediate access to both the FA 2021 Study Notes, that are now online and also to accompanying lectures recorded for earlier years with explanations of how and where this material may be used.

As new FA 2021 lectures (where needed) are recorded then these will also be put online.

  1. Students may then start the detailed technical work covered in the individual chapters. This will commence with the study of Income Tax starting with Chapter 2.

Please note that at the end of each chapter essential additional work may be identified by reference to the Practice Q’s & A’s at the end of the Study Notes and references to the TX-UK Technical Articles prepared by the ACCA and available on the ACCA website. Once again ensure that for the June 2022 exam you use the FA 2021 articles.

  1. If you have any problems with the use or understanding of the Open Tuition material provided then please use the “Ask The Tutor” facility and I will attempt to assist you.

Good luck with your studies!
