Can someone please explain why a tall narrow structure will have poor vertical communication if they have fewer people to supervise?

True they have fewer people to supervise but remember not all the supervisors be top managers. So they all are fed by the ones above them which makes the communication poor because they are many in line dropping down.

poor communication in terms of beauracracy, a decision taking too long ,referral from one office to the other, making communication from least ranking subordinates , take too long to reach top level management, is that right?

There are lots of layers. Communication would be worse through lots of layers.

Hello,
Tall and narrow will have poor Vertical communication because the chain of communication is long. have in mind that each supervisor has two workers to supervise, and he is being supervised by his bosses who are being supervised by others. Hence for the communication to go up the chain to the manager or the head, it is very much possible that the one at the bottom will not get the response on time or even get the correct response as reports could be distorted.

Because there are multiple supervisors to the tall narrow structure. To help you a little more, lets think it as a whispering game back in our childhood with our friends. You start off with one word and you may end with something else which bring the relevance of tall narrow structure as there are multiple employees and there can be communication errors. When you click on 'Submit all' at any stage your questions are marked and provided you have scored more than 50% for the whole test you can review your answers and see the correct answers.

its only one chapter. I thik u thinking too deep. This is AB level - its not supposed to be hard yet. Dont waste time. Its not rocket science, u only need to remember few phrases and in which context they are used and what they mean.
