Hi I have jut done question Flexipipe and I am slightly confused;
Question a) critically evaluate the decision made by the CEO to use the software package approach to automating the production process at Flexipipe, and explain why this approach was unlikely to succeed.
Now I answered this question criticizing the way in which the CEO made his decision and how it would not succeed in the company.
The answer however has stated three factors of why having the software package would not work, such factors include competitive edge, complexity of the process of Flexipipe and the issues of not having a very good procurement team. although the first part of the answer I did state in my answer briefly but I treated this as a two part question and answered the issues of making such a decision eg not doing any research and development and why such a decision would not succeed.
What is you opinion on this question asked?
Thanks

So, you were primarily required to criticise the decision, not the decision-making process, although that seemed to be required as well because of their poor procurement process. There was a lot of information in the question that was only of reelvance to the decision itself and could not be used anywhere else in the answer. In general if the examiner is obviously going to the bother of providing information you should expect that to be relevant to some part of the answer.
