Guys, I have wtitten P3 twice now and am attepting it for the 3rd time this june. I have tried everything even managed my time well in my last exam. Pliz help!!!
Im writing p3 first time time this yr did not write last year wrote p7 and failed dismally therefore this year am wrign both p3 and p7 please advise how to tackle my studies
can anyone tell me how to study and pass P3, I failed 3 times with terrible mark. I panic every time I read the long question. i really hope can pass in Jun’12.
@krulikyong75, Don’t panic! Remember, the longer the question, the more ammunition you are provided with to attack it. Lots and lots of detail are telling you information you can use. The hardest questions are the short ones, like “What is life?”. Use your 15 minutes reading time to read the requirements of the long question then to read and re-read the question, making notes on it.
On my revision courses I get students to attempt about 8 long questions – not writing out the answer in full, but reading it and planning answers.
Look at the videos on this site that work through questions; some more will be posted soon.
u kno in my country ACCA exam starts @ noon 2pm according to 0ur time, and on P3 exam day i woke up and saw the clock it was 1.15 already ,so i got panic cox i was late for exam so hurryin i got read and get dressed but when i came out i realized that it was 1.15am at nite!! lol
@affera, ACTUALLY IT IS MY ANOTHER ID IN THE OPENTUITION TELL ME HOW WAS YOUR P3. FOR ME IT WAS NOT BAD. I USED IN THE FIRST PART PESTEL AND FIVE FORCES BUT I FORGOT THE LAST ONE AND I GUESSED IT WOULD BE BARRIARS TO ENTRY WHICH I THINK IS WRONG. I HAVE LOST MY TEXT BOOK ALSO IN THE EXAM HALL. IT WAS REALLY HECTIC DAY FOR ME I WENT ON 9 AM MORNING AND CAME HOME AT 11 PM NIGHT.
@abdurramanvugmail, oh sorry to hear that but dun worry u r not gonna need that text book again abd p3 was not bad either for me i did the same thing PESTEL and poter force – and i consuted couple of ppl and they say it right!

Thanks Acca Tutor for your comments.Open Tuition notes are very helpful.
Chebsa, It’s really upto you whether you want to pass or not. If you really want to pass – then go for it with absolute 1000% determination and believe in your mind that you are going to do whatever it takes to finish off your studies and question practises and do your utmost best to convince the marker to give you the magic 50 pass mark. Your best is good enough! Good luck 😉
I am yet to finish the BPP text i.e left with 9 more chapters but started the practice kit and now I got this course note which I believe would take me less time than the 9 chapters I am left with. What do you think friends ? will I be able to pass?
I don’t have the BPP kit to hand, but I’ve looked at the questions and answers on the ACCA site. Obviously, the components of the primary activity section of the value chain will be the same for each, but the two companies will do different things as part of each activity.
Perfect shopper. Asks for a description for 5 marks, so one mark per activity. You can’t write a lot there.
Independent living. Asks for an analysis for 10 marks. Answer should be longer and should try to point out where value is added so that you are doing some analysis and not just description. I think the ACCA answer is perhaps a little light on analysis.
Remember to take not of the marks available as an indication of depth and volume of your answer.
Guys if u r using BPP revision kid in 12/2007(Perfect Shopper, The question is (a) Describe the primary activities of the value chain of Perfect Shopper and in 12/2009(Independent Living), The question is Analyse the primary activities of the value chain for the product range at IL!
The answers are just the same,am i wrong guys!help me pliz Analyse n Describe…….
I’m almost done the P3 BPP study text. Have downloaded Practice Question 1 and answer. Will go through course notes too, then I can join the discussions.
Notes are clear and I am able to follow explanations with a greater degree of understanding.
Real life examples given at the start of the notes helped me to bear in mind that the study material is in terms is relevant to real life situations.i.e not confined to the classroom but is active in the world of business.
I am also now greatly encouraged to study in a more focused manner.

Thanks for your reply. It’s great help to me.
I will look at the video.

@gromit, I will also take P2 in June’12, can I rely on the past exam question and answer or revision kit? as there are always some changes on P2.
Ken Garrett says
@krulikyong75, I’m sorry, but you will need to ask that question on the P2 Ask the tutor forum. I stay well away from financial reporting!
