Great quiz. One of the question is “Under what circumstances should subsidiary undertakings be excluded from consolidation?”
I do not understand this answer which said, ” Where the subsidiary is, in the opinion of the parent entity, immaterial in the context of the group”? Could you please explain in some details what it means with ” immaterial in the context of the group”
Is it about large amount of debt subsidiary is carrying????? if the directors of parent agree, then no need for consolidation. I am not understanding the exclusions of non-consolidation of subsidiary. I am using BPP study text. Thanks in advance.

It’s where a parent company owns a number of subsidiaries but not all of them are necessarily active
The inactive ones may simply have a few shares in issue and a small amount as a receivable
In the context of the group those subsidiaries are immaterial so may be excluded from the consolidation exercise
Nothing at all to do with subsidiaries having large amounts of debe – on the contrary those subsidiaries must not be excluded
It was a good quiz
I can’t imagine why not! I can see them
Cannot see question.
