ex 5 ch 7 – would the following presentation be suitable for full marks in exam conditions – wanting to totally minimise ‘non-value adding’ information and detail!?
Between 4:42 and 4:47 on the video you make the following statement – “… so your giving back to the NCI some of their NCI …”. Do you mean one is ‘taking from’ from the NCI? Or have I misunderstood something basic?
I found your lectures are very helpful. Just want to ask about Goodwill and RE. In example 1, Goodwill is affected by the change. And in example 4, so is it, REs (because of the profit/loss on disposal).
Hi, finding these lectures really useful. Would like to see the end of this one but screen goes blank around 23-24mins and stays like that until the end.
It does not effect the RE calculation in this question because the change was done at the end of the year. As far as I understood, if there was a change during the year, then we will have to prorate the current share of post acq reserve to RE.
Hi ozairbarlas: it is still not clear for me. As at example 4, the change was at the end of year as well.

Hey phuongdieu, example 4 was a question where parent had control and lost it due to disposal, in example 5, the parent still has control over the subsidiaries. The accounting treatment is different when disposal is being undertaken according to whether the parent has control or the parent lost control of the subsidiaries.

Where are the solutions? My lecturer notes runs up to page 156 and there are no solutions, however my life has been made easier by these lectures.I appreciate.
First of all, it’s an amazing lecture! However it seems to me that the recording ended a little prematurely around 23:42, but I suppose the rest of it contains just the completion of the grp SFP which can be found in the solutions given, so no big issues!
I have two questions.
1. Well calculating Goodwill, don’t you have to separate GW attributed to Parent and NCI?
For jones in this question pre acq value was 110 so wouldn;t parent GW be
120-(110×90%)= 21?
Sub
13-(110×10%)=2
Thus total GW of 23 as shown in the question?
2.
Also when valuing the 20% sold, I’m confused on whether it should be
[120+the attributable GW+ post acg retained earning (90% x10)}x20%
Then use this as the increase in value of NCI
Please advise
Thank you for lecture.
But why after 24 minute there is no video?
Thank you. Good lecture

After changes in the percentage holding due to the further acquisition and part disposal ,I expect the changes to affect the RE calculations?
