Paper F9 Syllabus changes:
There are no changes to the syllabus, just a rearrangement of syllabus sections. Cost of capital is now part of the business finance section.
F9 Format changes:
The exam will remain a three-hour paper, with all questions being compulsory, and with 15 minutes reading time.
There will be two sections to the exam:
Section A will comprise 20 multiple choice questions of 2 marks each.
Section B will comprise three 10 mark questions and two 15 mark questions.
The two 15 mark questions will come from the working capital management, investment appraisal and business finance areas of the syllabus.
The other questions in both sections can cover any areas of the syllabus.

Mr Moffat, I failed on my 4th attempt, I wish I could have afford to come to London to resit on September 11, but I can’t, I am totally depressed, really considering giving up, I really like your teaching style and understand it, I think I started following your work this April 2015 but I guess I am not good at exams… if I do attempt this exam again I would be using every word, note and example from you, because I do think you are the utmost best lecturer I came accross thus far. Keep on teaching it is your calling, you are the best!
5up3rman says
Just wondered in the MCQ’s section is it only one answer per question?
John Moffat says
Yes – you just choose which of the 4 is correct.
5up3rman says
Thank you Sir.
Fahad says
just a quick question, where would we answer MCQs, is it that front page of copy where we need to fill black the correct answer or inside the copy, also are we required to provide calculation of our MCQs in copy? your quick response will be highly appreciated.
John Moffat says
There will be a page at the front of the answer booklet on which you will mark you answers to the MCQ’s.
You can do your workings on the question paper or in the answer booklet, but your workings will not be looked at (a computer marks the MCQ’s 馃檪 )

Hi, I just wanted to confirm that all exam formulas provided will remain same?
John Moffat says
Yes.
SANDEEP says
Hi,
Could you please advise where do I practice the MCQ’s for the Dec 2014 attempt? Also where can I get free material for the same?
Thanks
John Moffat says
We do have an MCQ test (the link to it is from the main F9 page). Every time you attempt the test you will get different questions.
However you should buy a Revision Kit from one of the ACCA approved publishers – they contain lots of exam standard questions, and it is vital that you practice as many questions as possible.
SANDEEP says
Thanks a lot for your help.

How is preparation going on guys? we are near to the exam
tvashil says
I need a BPP exam Kit on soft copy..can anyone help?
John Moffat says
Copying copyright material is piracy, which is illegal and unethical.
You must not ask for pirated material on this website.
If you go to the BPP website you can purchase a soft copy online.

Hello,
For this exam I have the Study Text and Exam Revision Kit from Kaplan available until June 2014. Taking into consideration that the exam format changed, to you know if I should buy the new edition for 2014-2015 or it is fine to study using the books I already have? I’m more concerned about the Revision Kit.
Many Thanks!
John Moffat says
There is no need to buy a new Study Text because the syllabus has not changed.
It would be useful to get a new Revision Kit because of the introduction of multiple choice questions in Section A of the exam. The new Kit will have lots of practice questions of this type.
elenis says
Thank you for your answer!
