    Mr. Mike !

    Hi

I have been attempting F7 from last 4 sessions and getting average score of 46. I am a part time student and doing self study. My study pattern is based on past papers and an old BPP syllabus book. Please advise me how can I best prepare my self for the F7 Dec-2014 attempt keeping in view the short time and new exam format.

    Thanks & Regards

If I remain with one paper for example f9, is it possible to sit for a paper on professional? Or do I first need to complete all the f papers?

I have seen many people writing Ps before completing the skills paper more especially those remaining with 1 or 2 papers in skills.

with 1 paper left in SKILLS you certainly can combine it with 1 or more of the P papers. You can contact ACCA to confirm this if in doubt

There is no doubt – you can do it. The only proviso is that you must have passed, or at least be entered for, all the F level papers before you can start into the Ps.

You can even enter for, say, F9 being your last F paper, and P1, P2 and P3 in the same sitting …… and then not turn up for F9

Waste of the exam entry fee, but it’s possible

2012 material is ok. Just make sure that you are ok with IAS 41 Agriculture and with integrated reporting – both have chapters within the free course notes.

The lectures are fine OTHER THAN the first lecture that explains the format of the examination. That has, of course, now changed but there is not a new lecture to explain the change

        November 22, 2014 at 8:25 am

Put simply, it’s a process based on overall thinking (integrated thinking) that results in a periodic (monthly, maybe) report by any organization about value creation over time and the related aspects of value creation

The report itself is a concise communication document covering how the company or organisation’s strategy, governance issues, performance and lead to the creation of value over time – short, medium and long

        Ok?

Here’s an extract from the ACCA F7 syllabus and study guide. I am not certain that this is answering the question that you have posted but I’m not sure what it is exactly that you are asking for!

      “APPROACH TO EXAMINING THE SYLLABUS

The syllabus is assessed by a three-hour paper- based examination.

All questions are compulsory. It will contain both computational and discursive elements.

Some questions will adopt a scenario/case study approach.

Section A of the exam comprises 20 multiple choice questions of 2 marks each.

Section B of the exam comprises two 15 mark questions and one 30 mark question.

The 30 mark question will examine the preparation of financial statements for either a single entity or a group. The section A question and the other questions in section B can cover any areas of the syllabus.

An individual question may often involve elements that relate to different subject areas of the syllabus. For example the preparation of an entity鈥檚 financial statements could include matters relating to several accounting standards.

Questions may ask candidates to comment on the appropriateness or acceptability of management鈥檚 opinion or chosen accounting treatment. An understanding of accounting principles and concepts and how these are applied to practical examples will be tested.

Questions on topic areas that are also included in Paper F3 will be examined at an appropriately greater depth in this paper.

Candidates will be expected to have an appreciation of the need for specified accounting standards and why they have been issued. For detailed or complex standards, candidates need to be aware of their principles and key elements.”

      Does that help at all?

why there is no option for paper variation this time? I mean to opt for international variation of F7. But in my exam entry statement it shows not applicable. plx clear me the issue.

With effect from December 2014 inclusive, there is no longer a UK variant for neither F7 nor F8

At last the UK has realised that they are part of the International community rather than the other way round

From memory, IAS 41 is the only MAJOR change in the syllabus. You can of course check for yourself on this site (home, ACCA, f7, syllabus)

Scroll down to the bottom of that page and there you have it!

Post again if you still have problems

        Hi Mike,

Can you please advice on which combination to take..
As i am left with only F7 from F papers..
        should i do P1 & P3 this semester and F7 & P2 in june or F7 & P1
I am working full time in a demanding role…8-9 hours a day..
        I failed F7 in June
        Thanks
        .

        August 26, 2014 at 11:39 am

        Hi Catacca

You cannot enter for just P1 and P3 unless you, at the same time, enter and pay for F7 (but then don’t turn up for the F7 exam)

F7 and P2 is not an ideal combination

I suggest you enter for F7 with P1 in December and P2 with P3 next June

        Hope that helps

I think the change to multiple choice increases the breath of material that one needs to have covered coz multiple choice requires u to be very clear on your understanding of material. Don’t rush to celebrate the ease of picking off answers from a list knowing the level at which we r studying I encourage greater practice in all syllabus areas. December results will be very interesting to see. Good luck to all!

As most of the student rely on the past papers for ACCA exams….now the question is whether these old papers will still be helpfull as they were or not because now the structure have changed and these old papers does not contain MCQ’s..if helpfull then how far???if not why???

It’s only the format of the exam that has changed. The syllabus remains the same so past questions are useful to practice the techniques.

That are a whole load of mini exercises introduced into the course notes for this next session. I would recommend that you get on top of the various min-topices covered by those mini-exercises

Hmm, a bit difficult to answer that. What about doing F5, F7 and F9?

      馃檪

I don’t know how many you personally feel you should be attempting. I don’t know if you’re a full time student or a mother with 4 children under the age of 5.

How much time do you have available and how motivated are you? What social life do you wish to protect and what distractions are in your life making demands that you cannot avoid?

If you’re only doing one exam per session, do F5

If you are tackling two exams per session, do F5 and F7

If you’re going to go for broke, then do all 3!

      Hi Rayanne

Unless you are prepared to enter for F7, F9 and P1 but not turn up for one of the exams (and lose your examination entry money), there’s no chance of doing P1! You have to have passed, or at least be entered for, all the F level papers before you can attempt the P level papers

F7 is ok – it has to be cleared some time.

It also depends on which other papers have to be passed. For example, if you still need F8 then a combination of numerical F6 with a wordy F8 could be acceptable
